Modern society has a lot more than just agricultural workers, and in western countries much of the food is imported anyway which I am not sure you have accounted for. If you want modern standards of living your going to need a lot more workers than that.

As for the whole thing of us working for rich people. You are exactly right that they have the most money. That doesn’t mean they actually spend all that on themselves, and it certainly doesn’t mean they consume the lions share of physical goods requiring work for their personal pleasure. If you look at someone like Elon for example, as evil as they are most of the money they spend will be in investments to public companies. Things like the development of SpaceX rockets, new electric cars, data centers to push AI, and so on. Very little of that is spent on their personal needs. Still way more than we could ever afford, none of us are getting rides in private jets, but since there are only so few people at that level it doesn’t add up to much in the scheme of things. Even if we got rid of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and so forth we would still have to fund R&D somehow, and all those scientists and engineers still want to be paid or taken care of. Things could potentially be made more efficient by combining the efforts of some of these companies, but that doesn’t mean you ask scientists to go home, it just means innovation happens that much faster. Heck sometimes competition can be good for innovation, so you might still keep around competing teams even if they are all technically funded by the same government or public institution.

If anything we might need to work harder for a time after capitalism to repair the damage done to people and the planet. Certainly all oil and gas infrastructure needs to be replaced, and that means lots of new stuff needs to be built and research needs to be done at break neck pace. Ending economic exploitation doesn’t magically fix everything that’s wrong with the world, it would only be step 1.

It’s also unlikely that capitalism is going away soon anyway, so this is all moot. It is after all the most efficient system we have built to date, even if it’s crazy bad in some areas, and coming up with something to replace it that wouldn’t just be worse is a tall order. Many have died trying.

If you have a country that’s below it’s replacement rate then you need net positive immigration to compensate for this. Likewise if your above replacement rate and have problems with overpopulation then you need net negative immigration. This is fairly straightforward demographics and economics. Being too far below replacement rate without immigration leads to an aging population, and even countries like China which used to have serious overpopulation issues can fall fowl of this. Aging population is the root of a lot of economic and cultural issues. Saying immigration is bad is not just wrong, it’s the exact opposite of what the situation calls for in most European nations, the USA, Japan, and South Korea.

I don’t know the context here because I am not American. That being said I can see it being useful that there is a record somewhere that someone has transitioned and what medical steps this involved for no other reason than their safety. Things like HRT, or any kind of surgery can have serious complications. Even gender dysphoria itself can lead to suicide. There should be some mechanism in place for Doctors to get this information quickly, and by nature that would probably involve the government. It should obviously be protected information like any other piece of medical data not available to all government workers unless it directly concerns their responsibilities.

Yeah it’s not always that simple. You haven’t been around long enough to see the stuff that can go wrong with installing Windows. For example I recently had Windows refuse to see both SSDs in a machine. All because of something called Intel VMD. Took me a handful of attempts before I found the problem.

When Windows installs work they are fairly simple if long, but when they don’t work oh boy.

UEFI won’t boot from MBR drives unless it’s in BIOS compatibility mode. What format the drive is in isn’t determined by a firmware setting, though it can affect the boot process. I don’t think you actually understand what you are talking about here. The easiest way to install OSes both Windows and Linux is by wiping the drive, which would have solved this issue. Dual boot on single drive configurations normally have issues and will always be more complicated. It’s better to use two drives where possible in most cases. I suggest you read up on BIOS vs UEFI and how partition tables work if you want to do a complex setup like that.

Mint is known for having older kernels and therefore not supporting the latest hardware. They have a different edition for newer computers called Linux Mint Edge edition. Something Arch derived like CachyOS or another distro using recent kernels will always have the best support for bleeding edge hardware. The CachyOS installer is also pretty friendly, though maybe not as much as Mint.

This isn’t true. Try Linux Mint or Ubuntu, their installers are much better. Those installers used by Fedora, RedHat, and even SUSE can be a bit weird.

In my country the average lecturer salary is a bit over £40k per year which is above the average UK salary for all age groups. That again is for lecturers which are not the same as professors.

I am telling you that even people further down in the hierarchy make good money. Either your academics are lying to you (which wouldn’t suprise me people are fucking greedy) or something has gone very wrong in your country. If we are talking about American it’s probably both of those things.

The only people not making good money are the PhD students who also teach. Even then most of us I think get more money than the undergraduates.

Even I as a student get something like £19,000 a year plus £40 per hour teaching rate for any classes I teach.

Either these people are manipulating you or there is something very wrong with academia in your country. Luckily moving countries is quite easy for academics as many Universities will hire foreign staff and there are often immigration laws in place for these kinds of people.
