I am not sure if Arch or Nix are good distros if you are new to Linux.
I would say Linux Mint might be a better option to get your bearings. This is a subjective thing, but I personally found it helpful to slowly learn some core things about Linux (CLI, base system architecture, DE’s and their nuances) in a controlled environment.

With all due respect, this is a bit reductionist. Comparing a Windows 64GB eMMC laptop to the Intel B570 is arguably not a fair comparison.
Not everyone needs HDMI 2.1 though. There are many use cases where AMD or even an Intel B570 works fine.

TSMC expects A14 to enter mass production in 2028 — but without backside power delivery. A version of A14 with backside power delivery is planned for 2029.
Looks like Intel 18A will have one notable advantage over TSMC, of course it’s whole package that counts, not just one (rather novel) feature.
I wonder what the price will be for an A14 wafer verses 2 nm (which seems to be about $22K or so, less than 10 years ago it was a loser to $10K or so).
The UI/UX has always been absolutely atrocious.
To some degree, the increase in prices is understandable (even ignoring the low or nonexistent levels of competition in some segments). We are getting to the point where every new semiconductor manufacturing node is seeing enormous cost increases (not just the fabs, but also advanced packaging and validation). Not to mention political volatility with the on-going implosion of American institutions.
What we really need is more long term support of devices; much better software optimization, easier repair, legal mandates for open standards and documentation.
