With patience, something ADHDers have in a abundance for the weirdest thing at the wrong time

quite different, actually… it’s amazing what a slightly different chemical can do pharmacologically…
even an isomer of the same chemical can be completely different… you can buy Levo-methamphetamine at CVS right now as a nasal decongestant… dextro-methamphetamine is what’s illegal….

HAHA! I was just trying to explain this to my wife. I was like

“Okay, yes, it DOES help you get stuff done but it’s kinda like casting magic…You need the right intention and materials in front of you, or else it backfires and you end up focusing super hard on the first silly, likely useless thing that grabs your attention, and forget time is still moving…”

Caffeine doesn’t do much for me, in fact it often seems to make me sleepy

An atypical response to caffeine is one of the most consistent markers of ADHD I’ve seen in the wild. I’ve yet to meet someone who has it and didn’t have some level of ADHD symptoms as well.

True. I tend to hang out with a lot of high functioning weirdos. We worked out that about half of us either were diagnosed with various neurodiversities, or reasonably could be. Several got diagnosed, after the caffeine point.

Unfortunately, high functioning ADHD diagnosis can be VERY hit and miss. My diagnosis was apparently fairly blatant. A friend, with very similar experiences and issues, got the opposite end of the deal. Since he could hold down a job, he obviously had no issues. A depressing chunk is down to the personal opinion of the assessor.
