But to summarise, Amendment NC21 to the Data Use and Access Bill would require sex to be defined as “sex at birth” for all identity verification requests.

This includes people who have changed their sex legally, which will now be separately catalogued.

This means that all kinds of people, including (potential) employers, landlords, government staff etc. will be able to look up these details about you.

This amendment will be voted on on the 7th of May, so if you’re in the UK please badger your MP to vote against it (template email in the Reddit post)

Radical idea: sex should not be a part of your legal identity, as something only relevant to you and your doctor.

Agreed. Sex is more irrelevant now than ever.

Sure, we should help fight sex/gender-based discrimination, and I do believe that in some very specific cases that information is important. However, that is information for you to reveal at your discretion.

We don’t mandate people disclose their disabilities, kinks, hobbies or race. Why should sex be any different? Chances are, it’s none of your business.

Labels are always used against you, and they still came up with 100 labels…

Sorry but when history repeats it self all ya can do is blame yourself…

Why cant we all be adults and just have unisex bathrooms. We could solve the urinal issue over night. Urinal, stall, urinal, stall
