JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•why polish teens seem to like russian culture more than polish adults?English261·1 day agoLol, the US is bad. So are many other western countries. That doesn’t make Russia good, or even less bad.
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Would racism in the USA still exist if humans had automated robots in the 1800s?English1·2 days agoThat must depend on location, here in the UK it’s only ever pronounced a-rub (u is the the oo in foot)
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You can guarantee a random 10% of the world population all basic human needs, but you have to sacrifice a finger every time you make that deal; how many people will you help?English103·2 days agoYou mean, human created stories. It’s not like these beings are likely to exist.
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You can guarantee a random 10% of the world population all basic human needs, but you have to sacrifice a finger every time you make that deal; how many people will you help?English561·2 days agoAll 10 even if they have to be taken off with a hacksaw. I would be concerned about the being who could so easily do this, but has a sick desire to maim me first though.
Did you edit your comment to say you were a Christian or did I just miss that? If so, I apologise, your conception of God is quite likely similar to most Christians! I do fail to see how the argument for a transcendent being predicates the Christian God specifically, though, no offense intended.
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you keep your phone in your right or your left pocket?English1·2 days agoRight handed, right back pocket (front if my trousers don’t have back pocket). Or more often in my handbag.
If so, your definition of ‘God’ is so far removed from what most people take God to mean as to just invite linguistic debates over debates over the thing itself.

JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some of your unpopular opinions in math? (not about math)English21·4 days agoThe numbers shouldn’t change to make nice patterns, though, rather the patterns that don’t fit the numbers don’t fit them. Sure, the pattern with division of powers wouldn’t be nice, but also 1 multiplied by itself 0 times is not 1, or at least, not only 1.

JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was sexual education like for you?English2·5 days agoReligious school taught me nothing, but religious parents gave a surprisingly detailed and good explanation of sex, including mention of gay people. Then they got me a private tutor for biology so I would know the material to pass the exam.
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it weird to sometimes wonder whether everything you know is wrong?English10·6 days agoAs a trans person, I have various mental illnesses. None of them is ‘being trans’, but it’s likely some of them are related, particularly gender dysphoria. In regards to your actual question, I’m so glad you’re evaluating your beliefs! Everyone should deconstruct and know why they believe the things that they do - and if there’s no good reason, to stop believing them - regularly. It’s the sign of a curious and humble mind.

JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You can now travel the multiverse, but only to worlds where the parallel version of you is still alive. Where do you go, and what do you do about your parallel self?English4·9 days agoYou do you. I would just hide my other self, but if you want to kill them… that’s on you

What thought would cause **immediate chaos** everywhere?English7·10 days agoMy message is in stereo. In the right ear, a booming, authoritative voice saying “Question everything, don’t trust authority, the God you believe in might not be real.”
In the left ear, a serpentine voice telling them to trust their religious leaders, you don’t know much yourself, you can’t trust your logic, you have to have faith.
