Based off my limited experience, Wayfair furniture is intentionally designed to be as frustrating as possible to assemble.

ultranaut@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People who live in touristic areas, what are the rudest behaviours you've seen among tourists?20·5 days agoI used to live across the street from a relatively popular tourist attraction and would occasionally get tourists standing in front of my windows and commenting on things in my apartment. Once my girlfriend and I were eating breakfast in front of an open window and someone tried talking to us about how expensive something was in our apartment. Besides that the only regular rudeness was groups acting like they own the sidewalk. Usually its large families but I do remember one time what looked like a Russian oligarch trophy wife surrounded by an entourage of stereotypical body guards that had people swearing at them because they were not letting anyone else use the sidewalk as they headed for the tourist attraction.
ultranaut@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL- The idea of how much you can afford to buy with your income is called “real income.” And if real income falls, that’s called a recession.English2·6 days agoEDIT: Sorry, thought I was replying to someone else originally.
There have been recessions with less than two quarters of negative growth, it is not a requirement. The NBER uses a variety of indicators, there can be recessions lasting only a few months.

It’s more complicated than that, and it’s not the Fed but the National Bureau of Economic Research: https://www.nber.org/research/business-cycle-dating/business-cycle-dating-procedure-frequently-asked-questions
ultranaut@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL- The idea of how much you can afford to buy with your income is called “real income.” And if real income falls, that’s called a recession.English28·6 days agoThat isn’t really the definition though. Real income can fall in a recession but it’s not necessarily a recession just because incomes fell. Real income can increase or decrease both during a recession and not during a recession. It’s a lot more complicated than “when your income declines there is a recession”.
ultranaut@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If I snapped you back in time 650 years right this very second, how would you use your current knowledge to succeed?441·11 days agoAssuming I am physically in the same place, I will fall to my death. If I somehow survive the fall I would be severely injured and alone in the wilderness. Within a few days I would probably die of either my injuries, dehydration, or hypothermia.
No. Haggling has zero appeal and makes me feel like an asshole. I want a set price that is predefined, and I want the purchase process to have minimal friction. I don’t want to have to argue with someone when I buy things.

Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached?5·14 days agoIn the before times when we still had the rule of law, mandatory voting would almost certainly require an amendment to the constitution or else the Supreme Court would block it. Under current precedents the government generally can’t compel political speech.
ultranaut@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•how should I tell my new trashy neighbors to keep their puppy off my property1·1 year ago“Please keep your dog off my property”
When that doesn’t work, contact animal control? I love dogs but a pit running loose is not going to end well for anyone and if they can’t handle their dog then you need to start getting that documented. Just stay polite and try to have empathy for whatever is going on with them to the best of your ability. How sure are you that they are trashy and not just inexperienced with dogs? If this is their first puppy they might just need friendly advice.
Car camping is its own thing with its own distinct culture from backpackers who hike out into the wilderness to camp.
