I’ve heard Flatpaks aren’t great at CLI tools, is that true ?
As a Nix user, I’m glad Flatpaks exist for other people, but I only ever use them when a package is not available from Nix directly. Seeing as Nix is literally the biggest package manager out there, it’s a pretty rare occurrence.

You can set it up to compile all your software yourself with the exact options you want, just like Gentoo. Not how most people use it, but still, NixOS can fulfill some of the same roles as Gentoo, they are very comparable.

Use Obtainium, and try to get apps outside of F-Droid as much as possible. Their method of signing apps themselves introduces a huge single point of failure in the security chain…
