  • Get Bayer to restart pesticide production to clean up the migrant detention centers.

bonus points: it’s prison slave labour and Bayer does indeed get to sell the pesticides for huge profit (saving the government so much money and contributing to the economy!!!) and they don’t provide any PPE so the work area is entirely contaminated

that sounds like the state of 2025

… and actually the next step is that they dump the contaminants into the river next to the detention centre and poison the drinking water of the next 10 towns over and face no repercussions at all

    would you like to elaborate?

    because

    • HIV is preventable through PrEP
    • gonorrhoea is curable with antibiotics
    • syphilis is curable with antibiotics
    • chlamydia is curable with antibiotics
    • mgen is curable with antibiotics
    • many of the above are preventable with DoxyPEP
    • herpes is treatable
    • HPV is preventable through vaccination

and your “pustules on my genitals” is just complete FUD

  • as someone else pointed out a specific example that comes up regularly (this is apparently already how it works): 1 particular brand of peanut butter was available, but their lite version wasn’t… with a cart full of groceries, figuring out exactly what gets paid for with what or what needs to be put back isn’t a fast process… this takes not only the persons time, but the cashiers time and everyone behind them in the queue

these are things we call negative externalities: costs forced to other places in the system without being accounted for in price

there are many, many, MANY more costs associated with any government program and intervention but this specific example would cost the country as a whole far more than the occasional unhealthy snack

  • personally, my reasoning for saying it trounces it is the integration of all the tools: no switching to after effects etc

but beyond that, ppro colour correction is just soooooo far behind

granted i haven’t really used it much, so i might not have “got” its workflow - it took a while for resolves to click - but it just seems so disjointed and clunky to do anything beyond cutting together a basic video

  • insurance is always a gamble, and the house always wins

don’t insure anything you can afford to lose, and save up money you’d put into insurance in a HISA

that said, things you can’t afford to lose probably include your house, someone else’s lamborghini, your health

buuuuuuut US health care is set up for bargaining: hospitals overcharge, pharmacies overcharge, drug companies overcharge because they all know insurance companies aren’t gonna pay what they actually charge because they have bargaining power… which, if you don’t have insurance, leaves you holding the fucking ball with no bargaining power

… all of this is said as an aussie, with universal healthcare and only a passing (but real life) experience of the US healthcare system (and in general a system that will protect me from fucking up so hard i can’t even imagine being completely destitute), so grain of salt n all that
