The problem is the people who use the library don’t have access to the money. They’re just some dev trying to build something and your library is one of their 500 dependencies. The idea of needing to pay for a license means they have to stop building and get other people involved who may or may not approve, which may not be an option if they have a deadline. They will probably just try to find some work around to avoid this.

I wonder if a better approach is to move hundreds of libraries into some kind of joint bundle (a humble bundle). Let companies buy access to them all with one procurement, and also you’ll have more negotiating power and pull if you have a bigger group.

You say I deserve Trump… like I’m the one suffering here. Question: do you honestly think Joe Biden would have permitted the removal of all Palestinians from Gaza? Would that even be a conversation right now? How about turning Gaza into a real estate opportunity for the sitting president?

I’m not the one suffering the brunt of consequences for your decision to elect Trump over Biden, it’s the Palestinian people who are. All of you made a choice based on principles that you don’t have the political power to support, and the result is one that is far worse for the actual people affected. That makes the choice morally inferior. And, it’s a shame to see what is happening to the people impacted by it.

So you’re saying the current president is supporting Genocide? It’s weird, I don’t hear anyone on the left yelling about it. It’s almost like they don’t actually care.

That’s increasingly a not very nuanced or serious stance to hold given that actual journalists and columnists do publish on substack, especially those that are trying to break away from billionaire controlled “news sources” with owners that are actually interfering in editorial and reporting decisions. Do you remove all op-eds from your “news sources”? If not, you’re saying billionaire-controlled “news sources” are legitimate, but not independent journalists and columnists with actual bona fides, including having been part of establishment media or worked in government previously. The internet has destroyed journalism, seems wrong to tune out those who are trying to put it together again.

So, op-eds from main stream media are allowed, but journalists publishing their work through substack is not allowed. So, only the establishment is allowed to have their voices heard. Got it. Quite the hill to die on @jordanlund
