  • I would draw a distinct line between the critical thinking of engineering and the critical thinking of the humanities, but yes. Just in the sense that engineering alone is good, but definitely not sufficient.

There is a common archetype of person in stem who thinks that because they’re very good at programming that they’re also very good at everything, and so spends half of their college tenure in a fratboy flophouse reinventing basic philosophy ideas Isaac Asimov thought of 70 years ago as part of their mission to solve society’s problems with bitcoin.

  • That is fantastic. I’m glad you like them.

The difference here, presumably, is that you’ve thought about what you eat and continue to do so knowing full well what that means, whatever it means. But~ not everybody thinks about it. Some people are carried forward through life just by the sheer momentum of their childhood.

And I say some people, but really, everybody is in some way or another. It takes active effort to change your course in life.

For example, no idea what your diet is like: if you eat a lot of junk food, do you know how much sugar you’re consuming? Have you ever thought about whether that’s a good thing?

  • Perfect.

As an allegedly misandrist, man-feminist critical of Men’s culture broadly, I am telling you this: these are the only two things you need to believe in.

I am tasking you with the responsibility of simply wanting a better society. If you see any person being harassed or chauvenistic or socially ignored because they’re not “in the club,” man or woman, and no matter the debate on which demographics tend to do what more often—if you have the heroic urge to help someone, that’s all you need.

This might sound a bit like I’m asking you to do something you already do, but if that’s true, that’s even better! A lot of people out there think of themselves as heroes but are easily swept away from the call to action by things like the bystander effect or simply not wanting to rock the boat. I believe in your ability to stand up and help people.

Also, I am surprised by your straightforwardness. I appreciate that, lol. :)

  • Incels scorn society and the world for making them ugly, no powerful jawline, no American Pie sex adventures in high school, and no nice suits to wear to their minimum wage jobs. To incels, they are the forgotten scum of the earth.

Well, The Joker is a film about an abused, poor, and lonely comedian getting his face kicked in by teenagers about a month before rising up, killing a late night tv host, and vengefully breaking Society down into chaos and misery.

So, they just think The Joker makes them look cool. That’s really it. Every time they think about shooting up an elementary school, they also think about Arthur Fleck gunning down Murray Franklin.

  • I’m trying to think of how this would be done without AI, actually, and I don’t really know.

It is funnier with Trump and Xi here. Maybe. Maybe stock photo could have worked, but… I dunno.

It is funnier with Trump’s facial expression in the third panel.

We obviously don’t have pictures of Trump and Xi playing poker.

I do agree that the idea here is much more important than the visuals.

I’m just really struggling to be upset with this one.
