I’m in my 40s now and I definitely did not burn near as many CDs as my dad did (he was born in '49)

This sounds extremely impractical. It’s like everyone can only yell at the top of their lungs. At least we can choose to focus on the person we’re interested in and ignore background “noise”. But someone trying to get our attention would be difficult. Now we can just call someone’s name from behind them. Something equivalent would be impossible.
Same in my company. Acknowledging that you’ve seen the message and are looking into it.

At this point it’s just a matter of beating that number for him. If people intentionally come to the country just to pad that number for him, it’s a win in his book.
lunarul@lemmy.worldto Health - Resources and discussion for everything health-related@lemmy.world•Montreal woman dies at 32 after being told she was ‘too young for breast cancer’English5·20 days agoI heard good things about healthcare in Canada. I come from a country that also has universal healthcare, but doctors are paid measly wages and results are what you pay for. 4-5 hours waits at emergency rooms, doctors and nurses refusing to do more than the bare minimum, or not event that, unless you give them a little “incentive”, etc, etc. So actually good doctors go to practice in private clinics or other countries, where they’re paid properly. I have lots of horror stories from the healthcare system in my native country.
But I thoght that Canada properly funds their healthcare system and this stuff wouldn’t happen.

Never had a console growing up. PC all the way. Started with a ZX Spectrum clone, then a 286, then a Pentium 100, and so on. I got my first consoles as an adult, first the Xbox One, which I never really played anything other than Just Dance on, then a Switch, which I couldn’t really get into either and ended up playing more on Ryujinx than on the actual switch. Bought an old 3DS at one point and its also just sitting in a drawer. Guess I’m too much of a PC gamer to get into consoles.
Never understood why, but it’s called “thick milk” in mine.
My cat has zero reaction to catnip anyway, so this comic wouldn’t even apply to him. But he does love to play and if we don’t play with him, he’ll find his own play. Find some small paper or plastic thing somewhere and swat them away then chase them. Or pick it up in his mouth and fling it up to then catch in mid flight. Lately we took out one of his older cat toys (a ribbon on a stick basically) and it’s his new favorite toy. He carries it around with him everywhere he goes, including up and down the stairs. And even though he’s over 13 years old, he’s more playful than he was as a kitten.

That should be a good starting point. See which of those you’re interested in and can be learned online.
Like all Romance languages, number “one” has different masculine and feminine forms, depending on what you’re counting. Unlike other Romance languages, number “two” is also gendered.

During the communist regime in Romania there was a ban on abortion and the state encouraged people to have lots of kids (sound familiar?). This lead to A LOT of kids in orphanages and not enough resources to properly care for them. Conditions were atrocious, to say the least.
But, that lead to a lot of research data by following the lives of kids who got adopted from those orphanages. It was determined that 4 month old was the cut-off point from where kids can still recover from traumatic experiences. Kids adopted younger than that did fine, but kids adopted after that age were affected for the rest of their lives. The fact that they didn’t actually remember things consciously did not matter.
