It’s increasingly harder to exchange for fiat anonymously, especially when you consider XMR or other privacy coins. Once the people in charge of money realized they were a bit subverted, you got the huge crackdown.

I still use it for various things. Buy LTC from a legit licensed exchange. Move it around a bit. Change to XMR through an exchange that doesn’t care. Maybe move it around some more. It’s a giant pain, but I don’t know a better way. This method isn’t perfect, more of a balance of risk, but it’s better than just handing your entire entity over for a simple transaction.

I don’t know how steamos works, but if it’s arch-based, can you just do pacman -Syu to update?

Jellyfin offers HTTPS, you just need to specify a certificate. It’s going to be a lot easier to just setup a web server like nginx and expose that to the internet, probably via port forwarding on your gateway/router. In that case, you can get a free certificate from letsencrypt.

So, the basic steps are:

0. Get a domain name
1. Setup JF server, ensure it works locally
2. Install a web server and set it up to proxy traffic to JF
3. Expose the web server ports 80 and 443 to the internet
4. Setup letsencrypt with automatic renewal

This might sound like a lot of work, but at least you own your data and service. Plex can and will block accounts, rendering servers basically useless.
