Having things be unprovable in a body of models would make it not a 100% correct body of models. You know it’d be… incomplete. That’s what it means, we’ve mathematically proven you cannot prove everything that is true.

I’m gonna hazard a guess that you are right about the trend, give or take on the time. However, there will be someone that claims some authority on what is and isn’t accurate.

I think where we may differ in opinion is where the power lies in this situation. To me, it’s all about having the money for the compute, which means its propaganda for the wealthy. That’s nothing new. I do not expect a significant increase in societal support for these types of messages. At least not on a historical scale.

You seem to imply the LLM can at the very least have an emergent agenda, or seeming agenda, of its own. I do not believe that to be the case. LLMs that generate output that doesn’t align with the monied interests will be considered misaligned and discarded.

You’re missing my point. An LLM can’t be “smarter” or “smart” at all. It isn’t sentient or conscious. It doesn’t even have a stable internal model of the world. What people call “hallucinations” are simply the random words selected at the edges of its convincing predictive power. Personification of LLMs is all marketing. They’re really just well presented statistical models.

Where are these AGI systems? All I hear about is LLMs fooling execs, which is basically them just falling for a fast talking computer.

It really is part of the playbook. It plays into the false centrism they’re trying to hide behind. “We worked hard and compromised.” Compromise to these fucks has been just giving into their temper tantrums since presidential reconstruction. They have to spin it in the public eye though. They always have to be the persecuted group in their narrative for this to even come close to making sense.

I’m right there with you. My luck came a bit later in life, so I had 10 working years of income tax actually paid close to 0% as I made little and had huge student loan debt from an attempt to get a degree.

I finished the degree and 10 yrs into a well compensated career and I’ll gladly pay thousands to the government. The wealthy people that complain about paying their share have zero perspective. They’re basically spoiled brats.

I’ve also lived in a state with lower taxes, and now one with higher taxes. You get what you pay for. I hear people everywhere complain about the roads where they live. Not everyone has had to replace whole wheels due to the stuff that some places are calling roads. Again, zero perspective if you don’t get out and see the world at least a little.

It’ll be possible. Whether someone will take the time and cost on are another question altogether.

I’ve never worked for an auto maker. I am a computer engineer (BS in Electrical and Computer engineering) though. While earning my degree I developed the hardware and software that served as a battery management computer in an electric car for a student competition. I currently write software tools for hardware engineering.

I say all that to say this: on the BOM, yes, a touch screen may be cheaper. However, you cannot even complete the BOM for discrete components without doing at least a MVP sort of UI development pass. With a touch screen, you can just do the physical design around it, and kick the UI design can down the road.

All kinds of fuckery can happen from there, including understaffing development of UI, poor quality control of code, and just plain inexperienced decisions in a relatively new landscape for many software developers. ‘Just turn it on and off’ isn’t an option for your dashboard when it goes blank at 70mph on the highway.

Just give me reliable knobs and dials. This is a machine, not jewelry.

That is a real shame. All these people are choosing to be poor. The real trick of this whole thing is you need to be independently wealthy for it to work for you. If only these folks understood that, they might choose differently.

I was just telling a friend, both sides want the same thing, money. The difference is, one side is willing to kill for it, and the other side is always willing to look away.
