That’s a bit of a misunderstanding, US Colleges have a bit of catch up period in the first year or 2 of study where you are both getting some exposure to your new topic but also ensuring your prior education is on par with everyone else. We call these “general education requirements” or “gen ed” and it’s because high school graduation isn’t well standardized across the states. Most students can test at the start of College or show their high school work and skip some of the basic writing and math classes to the next level. These “gen ed” classes ensure every student at the school has a basic level of reading, writing, and maths to base the rest of their work on. The amount of these other classes you have to take, is based on your major so for example people majoring in Teaching have more than other majoring in Engineering based on the logic a teacher needs a broader education in everything than an engineer will.

It does sometimes result in odd situations like my Uncle who couldn’t pass a general education language course in his non-native language (Spanish for him) and so was denied a Mathematics Education Degree and needed an extra semester to finish a different mathematics degree that had fewer gen ed requirements.

This all also plays into why US undergraduate degrees are usually 4-5 year programs instead of the shorter degrees tracks in Europe.

That all said, JD has a 4 year degree in Poly-sci and an additional 3 in Law School and he’s still a complete moron. Not even Yale could fix that.

I loved working in libraries. But even after becoming a manager, I couldn’t feed my kids on the pay. It sucked. I miss it.

Every food service place in my area fired their under-18 staff. Apparently it was a manager fad to declare minors “too much trouble” and so the only high schoolers I see are bagging groceries or camp counselors for little kids. My kids are 15 and want to start working but the best job in town that allows them is serving dinner and doing laundry at the fancy retirement community.

Kiwi Co had stuff started at baby toys so I really recommend you check their site. The DM in me also thinks the toy looks badass but my kids are edging at teens now so I have a bad idea of how long little ones take at things.

This is the first of this style I’ve seen that wasn’t the Magical Cauldron style which is pretty simple. I would suspect that this is also much simpler than it appears. Personally, even at 7-8yo kids would have been done with the chest in less than an hour and it would be more plastic stuff in their room.

The people who made “If the 40k Emperor had a Text-to-speech” had to give it up for copyright/trademark reasons so they moved to making World Of Darkness (Vampire the Masquerade, Hunter the Reckoning, etc.) content. Their “Hunter: The Parenting” has been hysterical so far but personally the “Norfolk Wizard Game” has me pausing to cackle like a madwoman. It’s a great alternative if your rental has a gas oven and you are rightfully concerned about the indoor air pollution caused by the burning of natural gas. We can’t change the installed range so we use an air-fryer/ toaster oven on one counter and an electric induction burner on the other. We got a wooded range cover and use it as counter space for food prep.

I started reporting every obvious AI image as Spam- Offensive a few weeks ago. I got more of it for a day o so and then substantially less. You generally have to be really firm with the Pinterest algorithm about showing the same content repetitively. Not just ads, any content.

Why would it be the policy everywhere? School choice rules that like are usually only in small areas like the Delaware. Usually they indicate that there isn’t a large difference in the quality of the schools between the areas. If you tried this in an area that had a urban-rural divide like Pennsylvania or New York, the flow of students into the suburban schools would be very difficult to handle.

It’s because your friend spends more 10 minutes listening to you, sees you more often than twice a year, and is truly paying attention to your well being.

If Doctors had time to chat and get to know you, they might gain more trust. Even in countries with funded medical systems, the amount of time a health care provider spends getting to know you personally is way down.

Why would I believe a guy who spent 10 minutes with me barely listening over my buddy who I talk to every day? I’m not saying this is a good thing, but we know what builds trust and it’s not what you get in a healthcare setting.
