It feels like if Shel Silverstein went just a biiit further.

I’ve been reading more about the job market in Spain lately and it sounds like they have a similar problem. Not nearly to the extent that Japan does, but similar attitudes about being at work for unnecessarily long hours even if there’s no real point. There doesn’t appear to be any reward, either. I don’t blame people for declining to participate.

Yeah like, they have negative charisma, so it’s extra baffling. I cannot imagine a world in which I’d support Donald Trump, but definitely not in this one where he routinely shits his own diaper. If he was only disgusting mentally but was a good speaker or handsome or whatever, it would make at least a little more sense

I would’ve thought that if his tone wasn’t angry, but dude sounded pissed, and it was a very abrupt change when I said why. I’m sure I’m not the first or only person to cancel for that reason but I didn’t get “secretly agrees” vibes.

I called to cancel my red card and the guy asked why so I said it was due to their new DEI policies, or lack thereof, and he said, “WELL, wish there was something we could do to keep you but there’s not so the account will be closed. Thanks for calling!” And then basically hung up on me. It definitely made me feel like the adult in the relationship.

Yeah but how many times could spies bribe the person in that role with a 6 pack? You could let him pick what he wants from the gas station beer case and he’d probably give you all his passwords.

I’m from CO and dating here is terrible. It wasn’t so bad in my 20s, but doing it in my 30s has been almost entirely shit to the point that I’ve given up, and so have a lot of other people. I love the state, don’t get me wrong, but it’s expensive and the single men seem to have formed some kind of mediocrity pact. The last woman I dated went from witchy pagan to hijab-wearing Muslim convert for a man she’d met in person once, so I haven’t had better luck on the queer scene either.

That said, joining queer spaces wherever you end up is a good way to dip your toes in the water without feeling the pressure that an explicitly dating-oriented site/activity might cause. Join clubs, go to bars, whatever. If you meet someone that way, it’ll likely feel a lot more natural.
