Have you ever been selected for jury duty? I haven’t, so I can’t speak to the screening process.

In cases of capital punishment I wouldn’t be surprised if they screen out people who are against it, since it would be a conflict of interest. A jury’s only purpose is to determine whether someone is guilty of a crime, not to weigh in on sentencing. Although I’m pretty sure sentencing comes later anyway.

Everyone being aware of it doesn’t mean it would happen all the time. I’m very aware of it and if selected I would still hear the case as dispassionately and impartially as possible, as I view a jury trial as a civic duty and an important cornerstone of criminal justice.

But I suspect the question you’re really asking is “What if every juror refused to convict in any crime?” And the answer to that question is that jury trials would no longer be a thing if juries weren’t useful. Judges would hear the cases and rule themselves (and judges already rule summarily in many trials today).

I disagree. While certainly some things differ between generations, human nature is still the same and the world in many regards isn’t all that different from 40 years ago.

I don’t know OP’s parents so I can’t speak to them specifically, but I wouldn’t automatically discount someone’s opinion just because they’re a couple decades older.

You’re correct that times have changed somewhat. But I think it’s overkill to say that “approaching women at all unless you have business with them is disrespectful and borderline harassment”.

Of course, context matters a lot. Don’t bother women at their jobs, the bank is not a lady zoo. But in a social situation where you would expect to meet other people, it’s fine to strike up a conversation with strangers or even ask them out.

However, by your own admission you don’t get out much. So I’m assuming you don’t get a lot of situations like bars or parties where this would happen. So I would try networking in your community, develop some hobbies, go to functions where you might meet someone in this manner.

There’s a million movies and shows you can stream with anti-authority or anti-capitalist messages, with lots of them being popular today. Why would they choose this particular movie to censor? The 2010 Robin Hood isn’t exactly at the top of the streaming charts.
