Hey breh. My setup us bare metal proxmox, a truenas VM and a couple Debian LXCs. Main LXC is running docker just fine with zero issues.

I’d honestly suggest skipping the truenas VM and just managing your disks in proxmox but my setup has been holding steady for about 5 years now.

Definitely don’t have to choose between lxc or docker.

I virtualized my nas for memes but honestly you don’t even need to do that. Just run proxmox and use zfs then build whatever lxc/VMS you want on top of it

Honestly I’m surprised more people don’t do it. Its so easy.

I had no idea what this was. Its just another shovelware social media platform. Of course its a privacy nightmare. Its a social media platform.

I’m specifically talking about toil when it comes to my job as a software developer. I already know I need an if statement and a for loop all wrapped in a try catch. Rather then spending a couple minutes coding that I have cursor do it for me instantly then fill out the actual code.

Or, ive written something in python and it needs to be converted to JavaScript. I can ask Claude to convert it one to one for me and test it, which comes back with either no errors or a very simple error I need to fix. It takes a minute. Instead I could have taken 15min to rewrite it myself and maybe make more mistakes that take longer.

I think its honestly pretty undeniable that AI can be a massive help in the workplace. Not all jobs sure but using it to automate toil is incredibly useful.

Its honestly not too bad as a starting point but its definitely harder than just installing truenas. Reason I’d suggest it is that it gives you more flexibility in the long term.

If you want less complexity, something like yunohost or CasaOS can be great too
