As little kids we got like no genderbased education from our parents. When we moved our grandmother got a lot more control and dumped blue boyish stuff on my brother and forbid the girly things. Has never worn a dress since and now is still not willing to wear one

I suggest installing something like e/os which is phone without google and tracking. You somehow have to make sure that the hardware itself does not communicate outside but at least with a secure OS you are introducing the security issues by installing WhatsApp for work
I know that e/os is based on another degoogled os but i forgot the name

And you can put it on an up to ~8 year old phone so its good for the environment too

CasaOS is not an operating system and more like a GUI for Docker with access to the terminal via said GUI (at least thats how i used it)
I personally think thats a very good option if you simply want to use an old PC to host stuff and test around but its limited in its scope so if you want things like RAID you need other or additional solutions

TrueNAS is an operating system Might be overkill for a newbie and i think it was ressource intensive but offers a lot of features in return like RAID
