Impeached from the House sets up for conviction from the Senate. We need all of Congress to go through for it to have any effect.

Stock market as a whole is…okay I guess. These one-off, bulletproof companies are silly. It’s almost a religion and the people who hold the stock truly believe that Tesla is going to make automatic cars that will drive everyone while also making autonomous robots that will do everyone’s laundry and the current problems are nothing compared to the beliefs in the future. The value will hold until it doesn’t (eg, they finally need the money for today’s bills in a recession that cost them their jobs), and then the value will plummet to something that actually looks normal for the sales they are making at this time.

Until they need their money, they have the unshakable belief they will all be millionaires as soon as Tesla comes out with the world changing techs and has no competition. Should be any day now. Or maybe in 2 weeks.

I don’t know. Unintelligent or even uneducated is easy to label the Maga crowd, and certainly many of them deserve that. But not all of them. I know a few who are well educated but just seem racist or 'i got mine" types.

Oh sorry I wasn’t trying to say that shouldn’t happen. The cars should be worth a bit less than they sell for, and the stock should be worth maybe 1/10th of it’s current value… Or less. I don’t care about that.

We still needed SOMETHING to get us out of the rut from legacy manufacturers. Now if they get rid of Elon then hopefully the engineers who helped pioneer the current EVs can get back to moving things forward. Or maybe they work for Rivian or others already.

Not true. The company did well because of well meaning people who wanted to move away from gas cars. There was literally a documentary “who killed the electric car” before Tesla. It showcased a well loved electric car that was only allowed to be leased and when the lease was up, no one was allowed to buy them. They destroyed them all.

Tesla got to where it is not because of Musk, but because it was a way to rise against the legacy manufacturers forcing us to stay on gas cars.

Musk stirred up some major stupidity, and did not care for quality control when it came to things like panel alignment, but the fact was that was the only option out there. They also added cool things like your phone being a key, or the key card. Lots of little quality of life improvements were brought in. Also I think they had to make a special gel and position for the batteries to not cause fires from a single battery failure. Lots of important (yet likely relatively simple) improvements that all the other manufacturers refused to do. Best we had was a Prius, and other cars that were for some reason made to look ugly and still needed gas anyways.

But they have stagnated. Musk has done all his tricks and they stopped improving. Literally letting the competitors make better batteries soon, which would kill them entirely if solid state batteries come about. I don’t know that Tesla can or needs to come back to the forefront, but without them we probably still would not have electric cars.

This isn’t really a great argument. Subsidies are there to promote the things we want to come to fruition. Want your people to have solar? Subsidies for putting one on your roof. You want more electric cars on the road even though more expensive? Subsidies.

You want a billionaire to help a new technology reach people he wouldn’t bother with? Subsidies.

I wish all inclusive resorts were more common in the US. I love cruises but they are SO bad for the environment. We are floating a whole hotel across the sea for very little reason. What I really love about them is like 80% just the all inclusive resort parts. Put that resort near a cool hiking mountain or other fun stuff and my “excursions” for the day will be just as fun, and I don’t have to kill the environment to get there!

Oh bonus idea: either all inclusive “resort” train, or connect these resorts via train for the adventure aspect.
