  • I once got into an argument with a south African on reddit about white genocide. Even over there it’s a political issue, but the way he and many people describe it makes it seem like if you even set foot there as a white person you’ll get mugged.

I was saying I lived there for six months, spent a lot of town in the townships where it was only black people, and I legit never once was harmed. Yeah it’s dangerous but like, they act like they’ve never been in a dangerous neighborhood in the states.

But because I was an American sharing this perspective and they were South African, I got relentlessly shamed by redditors. To be fair I get where they’re coming from. If you have no clue about the issue and someone from another country trying to say something said about that persons own country is BS, it doesn’t look good. But it’s literally a political topic and he was coming at it from the extreme right perspective. Because I’m an American, like a dozen people took away from that thread that white genocide is real.

  • I’m going to go against the grain here a little. First of all, it should absolutely be decriminalized. No one should spend time behind bars for using or selling it, obviously.

But it got legalized here back in 2022 and while it was great at first, weed sort of sucks now. Because of legal limits to how many plants you can grow, CBD disappeared. Every strain is somewhere between 20-30 percent THC and just makes your brain numb, doesn’t get you high the same way. Everything is way more expensive because every few years they vote to increase taxes on it, so strains that were 5 bucks a g when it was illegal are 10-11 now. Edibles have concentration limits so you’re paying out the ass now for 100 mg, which someone would before make in their kitchen and give away for cheap.

Not to mention that there is one. On. Every. Street. Corner.

It’s insane. Every business that closes down turns into a dispo and the added competition does not lower prices. Out town is losing cafes, art stores, all sorts of businesses because the cancer that is a dispensary keeps spreading. On a personal note, I’ve been trying to cut back for years and honestly I think if I still had to call “my buddy” to pickup i would have stopped a long time ago, but now it’s in my face everywhere and tbh, it just sucks. It just gets you high. That’s it. I can’t explain it, it lost so much heart.

Now it’s probably cleaner, safer, more ethical. But from a consumers perspective, it kind of sucks now.

  • I go to protests at my courthouse every week man. Like you said they never stop, but it also doesn’t stop what’s happening.

It hasn’t stopped what happened to the federal government, and it wouldn’t stop a military takeover of Canada. The kind of fighting we need is considered “disruptive” by almost everyone, and there’s never enough people willing to do it. Not to mention the fraction of people who protest or do anything at all is so fucking small that I’m comfortable saying by and large, Americans are not fighting.

Edit: It probably was inappropriate for me to come out with “bitch” right out the gate, sorry about that. It felt comedically appropriate but probably wasn’t the best lol
