  • No reason to be a dick. You could have rephrased most of this and had it be a beneficial suggestion, but instead it just comes across as you being mean. Looking over you comment history, it looks like most of your comments are that way. You almost are never helpful, just lashing out at people for doing something wrong or asking for help instead of figuring things out themselves. No one is going to take advice from you like this, you’re just pissing people off and wasting your own time in the process.

  • Do you know if it’s hardware or software issue? If it’s software, you can make a steam recovery drive and fix it that way. There are options to re flash everything or just repair steamOS system files. You can actually get stuck in a boot loop by maxing out the internal storage, so it might be worth booting into recovery and deleting some files if you think you’re close to maxed out.

As a cautionary warning, the SteamOS recovery media doesn’t properly support wifi 6 on the OLED deck, and might crash the wifi card, requiring you to reboot and start over. If you’re on an OLED deck and your router supports wifi6, I’d recommend only connecting to the 2.4GHz network provided by your router and not the 5ghz one to avoid this. Ethernet is also safe if you have a dock.

If your issues are hardware based, you can still send it into valve and they’ll give you a quote on the repair cost. Obviously it will depend on what’s wrong, but I usually hear of people getting pretty fair repair quotes.

  • The main new game I’ve started recently is Split Fiction, which is the new coop game from the devs of “It Takes Two”. I highly recommend it if you have a coop partner, the game is delightful and you only need one copy for two people.

Some other games I’ve played recently: Finally finished Metaphor Refantazio. I had to take a break from it after about 100 hours because (which is pretty normal for me with long games), but I just came back and finished it. Really great game, highly recommend it on Deck. Also been playing Lost Judgement, which is a Yakuza style game but with a detective focus. Finally I’ve been playing Rift of the Necrodancer, which is a lot of fun but hurts my brain.

  • Arms major advantage is efficiency while doing lighter workloads, which is kinda the antithesis of a gaming device would be.

That’s important too for gaming devices. It’s great the the steam deck can get 6-8 hours on low power games like Stardew Valley. A significant problem with many of the windows competitors is that they don’t see significantly better battery life at low loads. The original ROG Ally gets about 1.5 hours in a game like Cyberpunk 2077, but only gets 2-2.5 hours in a game like Stardew Valley.
