Radioactive Butthole@reddthat.comto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Sorry for even askingEnglish161·2 days agoNo but sometimes you’re in a terminal anyway and its trivial to pop open a new tab and run an arbitrary command. It isn’t that we hate GUI; TUI/CLI is just objectively faster for a lot of things.

Radioactive Butthole@reddthat.comto Europe@feddit.org•AfD is the most popular party in Germany for the first time, with a record 26%English1·3 days agoI hope you’re right but like I said, only time will tell. In 2015 I thought US democracy was enough to hold Donald Trump in check also, but history proved me wrong there. My state is very blue and I think we can effectively resist a lot (but not all) of what he’s doing, but that doesn’t help other states that want his destruction, or the rest of the world.
Germanys constitutional court […] isnt appointed by the partys unlike in the US
That is new information to me, and quite interesting. How do your judges come into power?

Radioactive Butthole@reddthat.comto Europe@feddit.org•AfD is the most popular party in Germany for the first time, with a record 26%English0·4 days agoI’ve been watching AfD grow for years. They aren’t the ruling party now, but will be soon enough. Maybe German democracy is strong enough to resist Fascism, maybe not. Only time will tell for sure.

Radioactive Butthole@reddthat.comto Ask Science@lemmy.world•Why are there Neutron Stars but we never hear about Proton Stars or Electron Stars?English4·3 days agoThere are no accepted answers to your question. However, I like to think that string theorists have it right and matter is sort of crushed so completely that you’re just left with a roiling sea of primordial energy - a scalar field, aka, a new universe. It is in my opinion likely that black holes are the holographic medium on which a universe can be projected. String theory supports this thought; it posits that black holes are “fuzz balls”, aka: a mass of unimaginable energy vibrating in many dimensions, aka: a universe. It is a simple, elegant explanation for why the universe exists, and where it came from.
But that is all extremely hypothetical. Like I said, there are no answers here… yet. There’s a lot of good science to back up that thought, but none of it is falsifiable with our current understanding of physics. We probably need a theory of quantum gravity to start answering these questions.
