  • I think there needs to be a concerted effort to call into question the legitimacy of governments that are failing to uphold treaties that have been ratified by their predecessors.

Australia has ratified the genocide prevention convention enshrining it in Australian law and our government is directly in contravention of that law. That makes the entire government a farce.

Every politician should be asked if they would arrest bibi and send him to the Hague. Anyone who says no has no respect for existing laws and that fact should be put on blast.

  • Every spring since I started gardening the right time to plant veggies changes drastically. I have to do a vibe check and even then it’s a crap shoot on whether I got it in too early or too late. If my potatoes don’t get flooded my late crop of beets gets blasted by a heatwave just as they sprout. Every year I either get more water storage for the garden or I plant less to make the water go farther but its never enough.

  • I don’t think this is the correct way of framing this idea. Using the words “People who are descended from people…” makes it sound like eugenics.

Generational trauma is a shorthand explanation of the flow on effects of trauma and the feedback loops it can cause. If you have trauma to your arm you can’t use it properly. Mental and emotional trauma impedes people from thinking and acting rationally. Generational trauma is when truma isn’t mentally and emotionally healed properly and then the trauma prevents the protection of the next generation. Each generation using coping mechanisms that inflicti the same wounds their parents inflicted on them.

Having your worldview shaped by oppressors can warp one’s morality but it doesn’t impede one’s ability to think critically and act rationally. People born to horrible people do have a higher chance of turning out horrible. The inherent irrational immorality of racial supremacy leads to its decay but improved material wealth because of said racial supremacy can tip the scales. Throw some trauma in there and the immorality becomes acceptable to the emotionally crippled individual even without any material benefits.

The western world is founded on slavery, colonialism and genocide. All its institutions are founded in white supremacy and chattel slavery. Yet, the majority of western white people are only passively in support of white supremacy as far as it is material beneficial to them. They don’t mind the treats but they want to have plausible deniability. They want their government to act like it is addressing racism as long as their standard of living isn’t threatened.

The ones who are frothing for the blood of POC are the Rich who benefit the most from the oppression and exploitation and… The poorest white people. Their trauma (often generational from substance abuse or physical or sexual abuse) and their constant stresses obtaining the minimums of food and shelter make them less rationally and emotionally equipped to correctly apply morality and ethics.

  • “They sell us about five times more than we sell them. So their factories are closing down as we speak,” Bessent said. “We’re going into the holiday season. Orders are placed for that now. So if those orders aren’t placed, it could be devastating for the Chinese.” -Bessent

This guy is so stupid. Imagine believing that Being on the demand side of the equation gives you more power than being on the supply side.

People will be upset over a few factories shutting down. For sure. It’ll suck for some chinese workers.

But the other side of that coin is empty stores before Black Friday. How many retailers are going to finish the year in the red if they cant get products to sell? How many consumers are going to be mad because there is nothing to buy or what there is is 10x the cost because there is no supply? There is nobody to replace those products and even if there were Trump’s tariffs have pissed the entire world off because he put them on everyone.

We might see scarcity protests in usa this christmas. Honestly I think Trump might actually “drain the swamp” just not in the way he was hoping for.

  • This is just the kind of info I was hoping for even if its a bit scant and overly editorialized.

“Up to 15000 men” That is a pretty serious force to have in Russia and nobody was able to prove it.

Drones captured footage of large North Korean formations advancing steadily, five to six meters apart, under heavy Ukrainian artillery fire – including cluster munitions. At first, it seemed the group had been wiped out. But hours later, survivors emerged from the snow and resumed the assault. “Seventy percent of them got up and pressed forward, covering up to eight kilometers in a single day,”

“Once one wave stalled, another would follow with the same relentless rhythm and fatalism,” a Russian battalion member remarked. “What drives men to fight like that? It must be something stronger than fear of death.”

    Fucking brutal.

  • I like to listen to theory a few times as an audiobook while I do chores, cook, exercise, or play less cerebral videogames. It builds a familiarity with the simple ideas and the flow of the text, how the parts relate to each other in general. It lets my brain work on the ideas without my conscious mind getting in the way because it is busy doing other things. Then after listening to it 2 or 3 times read along with it and really get down to attaching all the parts together in the order they are presented and turning them into one solid thing.

  • Exposure is a big part of it. People like the music that is playing when they are having a good time. People like the paintings that they choose to hang in their house (not the other way around).

Read up on choice-induced preference change and Cognitive Dissonance. There have been multiple studies (starting with Brehm in the late 50s) that show that people will increase their preference for a thing after they choose it.

(This is why they make people vote. You can get most people to say that “all politicians are bad” but then they will defend the guy they voted for because they chose him.)

People’s brains are wired to be happy most of the time (except if you have depression) so if we are constantly subjected to something we dislike slightly, over time it can become passable or even enjoyable. If you include other forms of enjoyment with the music or books you are trying to like it can help trick your brain into associating those types of art with pleasurable feelings by proxy.

So basically just keep listening to Yoko and reading books you don’t like and try to do it when conditions are perfect for their enjoyment.

  • The current ruling party is running for reelection on the promise that they will protect penalty rates (higher wages for evening and night shifts, weekends, and holidays) I’m not hopeful considering their environmental “protection” platform that they ran on last election ended up being a massive deregulation on fish farming and expansion of coal mining.

And instead of a “carrot” style controlled opposition in australia we have a “stick” of the blue party.
