Other responses to trauma, both physical and mental, can lead to a person’s body pushing blood to the surface muscles, which can deprive the vital things like organs and brains of sufficient blood. In normal cases this is just fight or flight systems kicking on. More blood to muscles is good there. But it can go too far and lead to these problems. Bodies overcorrect all the time - think dangerous fevers, or dangerous allergic reactions.

Listened to the segment and yeah, he’s a politician: saying anything in a noncommittal way to get people in the room onto his side. He’s not principled for sure, but in this case I genuinely don’t think he was airing a true personal perspective either.

Unless I read it wrong, Ohioans are planning to propose a state constitution amendment to end police qualified immunity. This rolling says, yeah you can do that. It still needs to get on the ballot and be voted on before anything changes.

Who is on the side of ending qualified immunity: pretty much anyone who isn’t a cop or authoritarian. QI is basically legal armor for cops to do anything they want as long as it can be read as (waves hands) “following protocol”.
