No, this hasn’t happened to me. And it’s not because I can’t admit that I’m wrong. I just don’t get into arguments unless I am very well versed on the topic. If I’m not sufficiently versed, then I will do additional research before staking a position. I can confidently say that I have never had to reverse myself partway through because I always come from a position of thought and knowledge and don’t wade in lightly.
Except, now that I think about it, there was one time where I was completely mistaken on a political topic. I won’t go into details here, but I guess I really blew that. So just the one time.
Hmm, I’m remembering another incident upon reflecting on the first. I was in a rush and didn’t think about my position very carefully before calling the other guy a Nazi crybaby. Turns out his dad died fighting the Nazis in North Africa, and he had been carrying the mantle ever since.
But other than that, no, I have never reversed myself mid argument because I always think carefully before typing something out, especially if it is going to be long.

I think of all the education that I missed, but then my homework was never quite like this…
Don’t come at me with facts when it ignores my feelings.
Irrelevant unless tipping culture stops after the wage increase.
What’s SCROTUS?
My recent automatics have been 8 speeds. Do you drive an 8 speed manual?
Getting the car to start rolling up a hill instead of down it backwards is also an important thing to get the hang of before someone is right behind you in traffic.
They were all over Southern California as well last time I was there.
I made no argument about whether there should be a wage increase. I merely pointed out that there will be some impact and it will be across the whole tourism industry, not just hotels.
Thanks for the info in the other sub thread on labor costs. We’ll see what the prices do and how that impacts travel plans.
Part of the article mentions that visits are already down due to the economic climate, which is also a point you’re making.
No. Please provide an estimate of the percent of the expenses which is labor.
Counter-counterpoint, “what the market will support” has a lot hidden in it, including the interplay between what you charge and your occupancy rate and whether your competitors can pull business away from you with lower rates. Your expenses are important to your bottom line and impact that equation.
Higher costs will cause fewer visitors, and there are far more affected by that than hotel owners. You can argue for or against the increase or this particular minimum, but don’t argue against the facts. If air travel gets more expensive, hotel owners are affected. If hotel prices go up, your operators, restaurants, transportation services, museums, and attractions will be affected.
I guess I was very unclear in my argument.
ITT Walmart is raising prices despite making more money than ever. In reality, Walmart is earning less than last year and trying to recoup tariff costs through price increases. The difference is in if you understand that sales being up doesn’t mean profits are up.
Tariffs still being in effect means Walmart is justified in its actions.
Then you’re arguing Mr. Trump has a 70% mandate for his second term (~245M eligible voters, only ~75M went for Harris; third party and non-vote means Trump support).
I guess you think we should give him more of a chance to enact their will.
Dude said Democrats lost 3 (Presidential) elections against MAGA and dismissed the win because “COViD.” You can’t think of anything he got wrong?
Give the poor girl her privacy, Tom.
